The Royal Drakensberg Education Trust (RDET) is dedicated to empowering children in the Northern Drakensberg community by providing access to early childhood development and educational support, laying the groundwork for lifelong learning and success.
To support this mission, Marsh Fidelity is proud to launch Team Marsh Fidelity for the Comrades Marathon 2027 for a long-term fundraising and awareness initiative, Every Step for Education #RunForRDET. Through this campaign, Marsh Fidelity aims to raise funds for RDET while shining a spotlight on the transformative power of education in underserved communities.
This initiative was inspired by a visit to a RDET-supported crèche in the Drakensberg, where seeing firsthand the impact of early education reinforced the profound difference it can make in a child’s life. From that experience, a clear goal was set: to take on the challenge of the 2027 Comrades Marathon in support of education initiatives that truly change lives.
From Inspiration to Action: The Comrades Commitment
Marsh Fidelity Director Daniel Marsh, alongside team member Londiwe Ngcobo and running coach Jo Keppler, will take on the formidable challenge of the Comrades Marathon in pursuit of a shared vision – to help create meaningful educational opportunities for future generations. Together, the team will run not only for personal achievement, but for the children and communities that benefit from sustained educational support.
The Comrades Marathon is more than a test of endurance. It’s a symbol of resilience, perseverance, and South African spirit. By aligning this iconic event with community upliftment through RDET, Marsh Fidelity seeks to embody the same values of determination and legacy that the race represents.
The commitment to preparing for the Comrades reflects a long-term commitment. It requires consistency, discipline, and purpose – qualities that mirror the sustained investment needed to uplift communities through education. How the Fundraising Campaign will Work
Team Marsh Fidelity’s Comrades journey will be supported by a structured fundraising campaign. Each participating runner has committed to raising a target of R35 000, with all funds directed exclusively towards supporting the Royal Drakensberg Education Trust and its initiatives.
In addition to individual fundraising, Marsh Fidelity welcomes corporate sponsorship as part of the campaign. Sponsorship opportunities include brand visibility through logos on running gear, as well as engagement through community events and social media content tracking the team’s progress towards Comrades 2027.
This collective approach allows individuals, businesses, and partners to contribute meaningfully while sharing in the journey towards a common goal: strengthening access to education.
